Message from the CEO

Welcome to Cooper Green-Mercy Hospital, a hospital committed to serve Jefferson Coounty residents with high quality care, compassion, and trust without regards to insurance status or ability to pay.

Presently, we are involved in a major renovation project to improve the safety and comfort of our patients and staff.  We recognize our partnership with patients, families, and community by making our service accessable and innovative.

The staff at Cooper Green-Mercy Hospital is dedicated and caring, with a goal to give you excellent health care.  When there is a health need for you and your family, TURN TO US.

Letter from the CEO, March 2008

I recently attended a mandatory Emergency Response Workshop for Cooper Green-Mercy Hospital employees and found it to be an extremely timely program.  The workshop was very well done and the presentations by Ms. Valerie Jones, MSM, RN (Quality Management) and Ms. B.J. Williams, MSN, RN (Hospital Education), were often humorous and engaging.

Emergency Response, especially as it relates to March weather, is quite timely in that Alabama has had the highest ever reported tornadoes this calendar year.

We are living in changing times, not only with the weather, but also with other issues that affect the ability of the hospital to deliver care.  One such issue is the general concern of staff and patients about the sewer bond debt, as well as possible County bankruptcy and what affect this will have on Cooper Green-Mercy Hospital.  We are told this issue will not affect our jobs, yet many of us remain anxious.

Ms. Jones ended the Emergency Response Workshop with a question, “Why are you important?”  You are important to the people we serve, enabling all citizens of the County to get compassionate and quality care.  You are important to other facilities in that you assist in caring for patients that may not fit their profile.  You assist many non-profit organizations who cannot deliver a full range of services, especially specialty services, for those in need.

Why are you important?  We are all in this together.

                                                            T—Together

                                                            E — everyone

                                                            A— achieves

                                                            M— much

If we all focus on the goal!

In hard times we must clearly understand our mission and perform to our very best, communicate with each other, and support each other.  Together, we can make anything happen.

Thank you for your devoted service.
