From the Program Director

Welcome to the Cooper Green Mercy Hospital Osteopathic Residency Program.

We are located next to the University Alabama Birmingham campus in downtown Birmingham, Al. We have access to multiple CME programs at UAB and Cooper Green.  We enjoy access to many of the UAB activities as well as Birmingham City activities including the UAB Recreation Center.
We are a county hospital with a high volume of diverse, high need and high acuity patients. Our services include: Family Practice, Surgery, Emergency Management, Geriatric Psychiatry, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, and Outpatient Pediatrics, Sports Medicine and many other subspecialties.
We meet every week on Thursday evenings for OMM training, guest lectures, case presentations and problem solving discussions.
This first year we accepted 5 residents from different COM's. We will accept 6 residents  the for 2012 training year and every year thereafter.
